Okay, its probably one of those coincidences that happens from time to time although I do remember reading something about there being no such things as a coincidence.  In the week that the scientists operating the Large Hadron Collider announce they may be connecting with a parallel universe any time soon, a mysterious city in the sky appears over China.  Yep, total coincidence.

Atom smasher

Nicknamed the Atom Smasher (heard that name recently too), the Large Hadron Collider started up again recently after a major refit.  This fascinating piece of equipment buried beneath Cern in Switzerland exists to find the answers to the questions we didn’t even know to ask yet and regular smashes together tiny atoms at speeds we mere mortals can’t really comprehend – unless you are a particle physicist too then please explain!

This week, the scientists who are regularly rewriting the physics handbook admitted that they may be adding philosophy to those rewrites with the chance that their experiments could cause gravity from our university to leak into a parallel universe.

Those already anticipating the collider will be the cause of the end of the world through a giant black hole it creates or other such physics doom will clearly cite this as another example of possible Armageddon.  Though it seems that the scientists think this will have little effect, merely be another first.

According to Mir Faizal, one of the three physicists behind the experiment, the parallel universe they refer to is more of an extra dimension to what we already know than the same-but-different parallel universe that many of us have ready about.

Or is it?

China Sky City

On the very same day that the scientists were talking about new dimensions and parallel worlds, a glimpse of one seemed to appear in the skies of Foshan, in the Guangdong province of China.  And if this was a parallel world, it has a distinctly familiar appearance, looking very much like a modern skyscraper filled city skyline.

The incident was recorded by thousands of people who photographed and videos the weird appearance in the sky.  A few days later, another large group reported a similar phenomenon over Jiangxi.

Meteorologists were quick to dismiss this glimpse of another reality as an optical phenomena.  Called Fata Morgana, it is where an optical distortion causes an inversion of distant objects including boats and makes them appear as skyscrapers stacked in the sky.

So a mere coincidence that as the LHC starts sending particles to a parallel world, another one appears in the sky over China.  Right?
